Making Meaning.

Legend is all about the substance of financial planning, and our commitment to it comes from our deepest values.

Why Legend

We chose “Legend” as the name for our firm for both personal and symbolic reasons. In 1986 when co-founder Sarah Headrick’s father was near the apex of his career as a CEO in the insurance industry, he purchased an Acura Legend.  The Legend symbolized his self-styled rebellion against the luxury brand sedans preferred amongst the CEO-set of the day.  From that day forward, Dick Riley was “The Legend”, a tongue and cheek nickname that stuck all the way through his battle with Alzheimers and death in May 2019. In both the spirit of his rebellion and the carrying of his moniker, Legend Private Wealth is an homage to him, with an official launch date of May 18, 2020 coinciding with the one-year anniversary of his passing.

More broadly, Legend is the part of the map that gives a map meaning.  Without a Legend, the map is impossible to interpret.  The mission of Legend Private Wealth is to help clients define what is really important to them, navigate the multitude of ways to accomplish their goals, and ultimately bring meaning to their financial lives. We’re not here to keep you on a singular straight line. We are here to help you navigate your priorities, recognize the symbols of opportunity risk, and chart your course as life unfolds.

Legend Core Values

We advise from real life experience.

Founder Brian Headrick has been advising business owners and high net worth individuals for over twenty years. With an understanding of the terrain, he advises based on real experience, not theory.

We prioritize outcomes and options.

Financially secure individuals and families don’t benefit from narrow plans in big binders predicting every step of the next twenty years. We plan for a future that is guaranteed to change and for your goals to evolve with it.

We plan for today and tomorrow.

Net worth is a number, but wealth is a feeling.  We partner with clients to balance meaningful spending today with providing a legacy for tomorrow.

Brian Headrick has been in financial services for over 23 years.  In 1996, he began his career with Northwestern Mutual in Chicago. His practice primarily focused on life insurance for individuals and privately held businesses. He obtained his CFP® designation in 2003 and expanded his practice to include investment management. After moving from Chicago to Charlotte in 2008, he rebuilt and evolved his practice, maintaining Chicago relationships and forming new ones in Charlotte.

At Legend Private Wealth, Brian focuses on client relationships, investment selection and insurance plan design. He prides himself on asking thought-provoking, insightful questions in a non-judgmental way in order to determine what is really important to clients.  His psychology and philosophy degrees from Notre Dame guide him in establishing meaningful, consultative relationships.

Brian lives with his business partner and wife, Sarah in Waxhaw, North Carolina.  When he’s not working, you can find him carrying his golf bag around his home course. In the evenings he likes to self-induce brief but intense existential crises as a result of reading or listening to podcasts about theoretical physics.  His remaining free time is spent with Sarah and their two children.
